The Fox Chapel girls basketball team started off its season at the Seneca Valley tournament on Dec. 9 and beat Burrell, 62-47.
The Foxes were led by Gabby Badway’s 21 points.
They then fell to Hampton in the championship game, 59-46.
“We got off to a slow start both nights,” FC coach Jennifer O’Shea said. “Against Burrell, we were able to get it together after the first six minutes. We shot pretty well, and I was happy with how many girls contributed to the scoring. We kept our turnovers under 10, and Gabby had a nice all-around game.
“Hampton was a different story. They are good. They’re ranked highly and they have three outstanding guards. We turned the ball over way too much and gave them easy points.
“Seneca Valley always has a very competitive tournament. While it would have been nice to win it, this is the time of year when you need to see where your weaknesses are and work to get better before section play.”
The Foxes (2-1) picked up a nonsection win Dec. 14 at home as they defeated Plum, 52-32. Badway scored 20 points.
“It was a well-played game for us and a good one to win as far as building confidence,” O’Shea said.
