The Fox Chapel wrestling team finished with a 16-4 record last year and made it to the second round of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs.

Ron Frank, the Foxes’ head coach since 1980, is confident despite having to replace graduates Ian Moritz (section champ), Tyler Heasley, Aiden Carlier, Jon Fisher and Darnell Foster.

“We have a lot of three-year veterans, and I think we should be pretty good,” he said. “We haven’t begun to evaluate who will start where yet.”

Returning starters include sophomore Juan Morales (106 or 113, 9-17), senior Andrew Kopko (126, 14-13), senior Austin Pisano (132, 22-13), senior Darius Booker (145, 20-4), senior Kevin Crates (138), senior Mike Duray (152, 8-8), senior Brendan Whelan (152, 9-7), senior Tristan Houser (160, 17-13), senior Derrin Dietz (170, 29-13), junior Mike Mahon (182, 31-14), sophomore Zach Carcy (195, 29-11), who will be out for two months recovering from a football injury, and junior Jared Pegher (285). Junior Alec Patsko, who wrestled at 285 last year, is out with a football injury.
