Abby Pitcairn, a sophomore, and a member of the Fox Chapel Area High School Field Hockey Team, has been named to the USA Women’s Indoor National Team, to compete in 4 Nations Field Hockey Tournament. They will travel to Durban, South Africa in December.
Abby is the youngest member selected for the team. After making the U17 National Field Hockey Team this summer, Abby was among 60 candidates hoping for a spot on the international tour roster. She is one of only ten field players from across the country to be named to the 12-player roster. The other two positions are filled by goalies.
In her play with Fox Chapel Area High School this fall season, Abby was instrumental in helping the team win the WPIAL championship and achieve a perfect record until the PIAA playoffs. Their season record through the WPIAL playoffs was 20-0.
Abby also broke her own scoring record from last season with 74 total points —26 goals and 22 assists.
