The game had a feel of a mid-October classic — snowflakes flying, the wind kicking up.
And the balls were just jumping off the bats.
It wasn’t an independent league game they were playing Sunday at Consol Energy Park, home of the Frontier League Washington Wild Things.
Rather, it was a fall ball championship game featuring WPIAL players from Fox Chapel and Plum, a pair of Class AAAA section champions in the 2015 season.
“It was cold out there today,” said Fox Chapel coach Michael Frank, “but I really can’t complain because we’ve had really great weather this fall. We got the reps we needed to get and it gave us a little bit of an idea what we have going into the spring.”
