Girls Field Hockey

The Fox Chapel field hockey team continued its impressive play with a 2-0 win over Peters Township on Oct. 13.

Abby Pitcairn had a goal and an assist with Megan McCrady also scoring. The staunch FC defense did not allow a shot on goal.

Fox Chapel improved to 16-0 overall and 10-0 in section play Oct. 15 as it cruised by Woodland Hills, 12-0. Nicole Susi and Molly Mendelson each had three goals. Margot Savin had two while Pitcairn, McCrady, Jenna Alexander and Mia Jamolkowski each had a goal.

Megan Botos had two assists with Pitcairn, Lydia Beyer, Susi and McCrady also earning assists. Again, the Foxes did not allow a shot on goal.

Girls Soccer

Fox Chapel blanked Gateway, 4-0, on Oct. 12. Taylor Cohen and Deena DeBaldo each had a pair of goals and an assist while Dixon Veltri picked up an assist. Kate Feczko stopped one shot in goal.

Tennis

Fox Chapel girls tennis fell to Moon, 3-2, in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAA team tournament Oct. 12. Amanda Nord and Kirsten Friday won their singles matches. Fox Chapel ended its season with a 10-6 record.

Boys Soccer

The Fox Chapel boys soccer team saw its hopes of an undefeated season dashed by Franklin Regional on Oct. 13, as the Foxes were on the short end of a 2-1 score. The game was a defensive battle throughout until the Panthers scored in the 76th minute. FC’s Koto Furuhata scored on a penalty shot three minutes later, but Franklin Regional secured the upset win with a goal with less than a minute remaining. The Foxes, who had clinched the Section 3-AAA title and qualified for the playoffs, dropped to 13-1 and 11-1 in the section.

Boys Golf

The Fox Chapel boys golf team finished second at the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals Oct. 13 to qualify for the finals for the third straight year. Hampton shot a team total of 388 and the Foxes came in at 399. Alex Lawson shot a 75 to lead FC, and Anthony Cordaro came in at 76.

The Foxes had to settle for second place at the WPIAL finals Thursday as Peters Township successfully defended its title. Fox Chapel finished with a team score of 393 which was 10 strokes behind the Indians. On the positive side, Cordaro was the medalist as he shot a 1-over-par 73. Lawson and Mike Marsico each shot a 38 while Matt Friday and Gregor Meyer both posted an 82.
