The WPIAL board of directors met Monday afternoon, May 18, and released baseball and softball section alignments for the next two years. The biggest change is in the number of teams in Class 6A. Both sports lost about one-third of their teams, including Fox Chapel.
For the next two years, WPIAL Class 6A baseball will have only 12 teams, compared to 19 this year and in 2019. Meanwhile, WPIAL softball will have only 11 teams, compared to 16 the past two years.
Fox Chapel will be in Class 5A. Here are the teams in the section with Fox Chapel:
Baseball:Section 2: Armstrong, Fox Chapel, Hampton, Mars, Penn Hills, Plum, Woodland Hills
Softball:Section 3: Fox Chapel, Hampton, Mars, North Hills, Oakland Catholic, Shaler
