After falling to State College, 1-0, on Sept. 24, the Fox Chapel field hockey team drubbed Allderdice, 11-0, on Sept. 26.
Abby Pitcairn had four goals and a pair of assists while Grace Knepshield scored twice. Megan McCrady added a goal and three assists with Paige Ryan, Megan Botos, Rebecca Klaas and Isabella lagazzi each scoring a goal.
Fox Chapel followed with a 2-1 win over Peters Township on Sept. 27, with Pitcairn and Botos scoring. McCrady and Ryan added assists, while Marissa Hardiman had two saves.
The Foxes then defeated Upper St. Clair, 5-0, on Sept. 29. Ryan had three goals, with Katie McIlroy and Pitcairn adding one each. McCrady had three assists and Botos had one. Hardiman made two saves in goal.
Girls soccer
Blair Echnat scored five goals to lead Fox Chapel (10-1, 6-0) to a 9-1 win over Allderdice (3-8, 3-4) om a Section 3-AAAA game Saturday. Dixon Veltri added three goals and two assists for the Foxes.
Girls volleyball
The Fox Chapel girls volleyball team hosted Penn-Trafford on Sept. 19 and fell 3-0. Jessie Michel led FC with eight digs while Chloe Yofan had 11 assists and Hayley Herrmann had six kills.
The Foxes lost to Oakland Catholic, 3-0, on Sept. 20. Shannon Fisher had six kills and seven digs. Dominique Buccigrossi had six assists. Tessa Friday had six digs and Katherine Chomko had two blocks.
The Foxes traveled to Kiski Area on Sept. 22 and lost 3-0. Desirae Buccigrossi and Lauren Heasley led FC with eight digs each. Jessie Michel had six kills, and Meredith Kenney had six assists. Jocelyn Eckenrode added three blocks.
The Foxes beat visiting Plum, 3-2, on Sept. 26. Desirae Buccigrossi had 12 digs, Meredith Kenney had 18 assists, Katie Kenney had 12 kills and four blocks, Jess Michel had seven Aces and Megan Friday contributed four blocks.
Woodland Hills came to town Sept. 29, and the Foxes swept the Wolverines, 3-0. Friday had five kills, Dominique Buccigrossi had 14 assists and with seven aces and Desirae Buccigrossi had eight digs.
Girls tennis
The Fox Chapel girls tennis team swept to a 5-0 win over Mars in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAA tournament Sept. 28. Amanda Nord, Charlotte James and Kristen Friday won in singles while the doubles tandems of Molly Wiese/Moira McCormick and Morgann Green/Tanvy Merengenti picked up wins.
The Foxes went up against Hempfield in the quarterfinals Sept. 29 and came away with a 4-1 win. Nord, James and Friday posted singles wins and Wiese/McCormick won their doubles match.
Boys golf
The WPIAL individual semifinals took place Sept. 27 at Hannastown Golf Club and Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. The top 18 scores from each site advanced to the WPIAL championship scheduled earlier this week at Oakmont Country Club. Five Shady Side Academy players competed at Cranberry Highlands, with two qualifying for the finals. Brice Delaney shot a 78 and James Fuhrer shot an 80 to advance. With multiple players shooting an 80, Fuhrer had to go into a playoff and made it to the next round with a birdie on the first hole.
At Hannastown, Fox Chapel had four golfers move on to the finals. Anthony Cordaro finished third with a 72, Alex Lawson was seventh with a 74, Grant Thiele was 12th with a 75 and Gregor Meyer was 13th after a 76.
• In Section 4 AAA action Sept. 28, Fox Chapel defeated Franklin Regional, 190-197. Lawson was the medalist with a 34, followed by Cordaro with a 37, Andrew Friend at 38, Meyer at 40 and Trye Kelly with a 41.
Girls golf
Shady Side Academy edged Fox Chapel, 191-192, and Norwin,191-206, on Sept. 28. Casey Morrow and Alexandra Muracca both shot 42 to lead SSA.
