The district has several scholarships available for district athletes:

  • Furher Family Scholarship – was established to honor a Fox Chapel Area High School senior who has excelled in an athletic activity while maintaining high academic standards. The scholarship awards up to $2,500 annually to a Fox Chapel Area High School Senior who has shown a commitment to continuing his/her education beyond high school.
  • Ed Boyle Athletic Scholarship – is named for the beloved physical education teacher and coach who initiated the Fox Chapel Area School District soccer program.  A collegiate All American, Ed Boyle served as head coach of the varsity team for nine years, leading the team to WPIAL Championships in 1964 and 1967.  He returned to the program as an assistant coach in the late 70s and continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1992.  After his death in 2008, the Boyle Family, with contributions by faculty, fellow coaches, and former players, established a $1,000 scholarship in his name to be given to a graduating male soccer player.  Established through the Pittsburgh Foundation, the scholarship is awarded according to their scholarship guidelines to a student who exemplifies the spirit and the talent of Coach Boyle.  The scholarship is presented at the Annual Induction Banquet of the Fox Chapel Area Schools Sports Hall of Fame each June.  The recipient is required to attend the banquet
  • First Commonwealth Scholarship – The WPIAL has partnered with First Commonwealth Bank for the 5th annual “Time to be First” scholarship program. The program has been established in order to recognize and reward student athletes demonstrating success in the classroom, the community, and their athletic endeavors. First Commonwealth Bank will award (20) $1,000 scholarships to area student athletes. The contest is open to any senior who is participating in any interscholastic athletic league.  Forms may be downloaded or obtained in the high school athletic office
  • Student Athlete Leadership Academy (SALA) – The Student Athlete Leadership Award is designated for at least one male and one female athlete who represent their school in an interscholastic sport. To be considered, the student athlete must be completing their senior year in high school and have successfully participated in the Student Athlete Leadership Academy. The scholarship must be used for educational purposes. The award amount will be determined each year. The recipients of this award should be representative of the highest ideals of the student athlete. They should make a significant contribution as a leader in their sport and in their school and have demonstrated their dedication to their teammates.
  • Rich Kriston Athletic Scholarship Application – The Rich Kriston Athletic Scholarship was established to honor a Fox Chapel Area High School senior who has excelled in athletic activity while maintaining high sportsmanship standards. The scholarship is a one-time award of $2,000 for a Fox Chapel Area High School Senior who has shown a commitment to continuing his/her education beyond high school
  • Wendy’s High School Heisman – Wendy’s High School Heisman supports high school seniors who share Wendy’s values of doing the right thing, giving back, and treating people with respect. Student athletes have an opportunity to win Wendy’s gift cards and a scholarship between $1,000 and $10,000.
