The Fox Chapel wrestling team started its season off at the Hampton Dawg Duals on Dec. 10.
It turned out to be an impressive start to the season for coach Ron Frank’s team.
The Foxes went 4-1 with wins over Riverview (63-18), Perry (60-15), Mt. Pleasant (51-27) and Ligonier Valley (51-24). They fell to Hempfield in the finals 51-24.
Mike Mahon (182 pounds), Zach Carcy (195) and Jared Pegher (285) all went 5-0 in the tournament.
“Although our young lineup lacks the experience we have grown accustomed to, the daily work ethic of the team is evident and will pay off as the season continues,” Frank said. “It should be another fun season with great competition.
“This team has a very good work ethic, and they will continue to learn and grow all season long.”
