Senior Laurel Shymansky and sophomore Amanda Nord have been named Esmark Inc., All-Americans for their leadership and achievements as doubles partners on the Fox Chapel Area High School Girls’ Tennis Team.
Laurel was part of the duo that won the PIAA championship in 2013. After teaming with Amanda in 2014, they won the WPIAL championship and were the PIAA silver medalists.
“These young ladies strive for excellence in all that they do, “ says Alex Slezak, the girls’ head coach at the high school. “Laurel is a tremendous champion, but it is the character, discipline, and work ethic that she exhibits behind the scenes that fuels her success. She is a leader who inspires others daily. Amanda is both an excellent tennis player and competitor. Her skill, character, and commitment are the driving forces behind her success. However, what impresses me most about Amanda is her ability to push through adversity.”
Both players were selected by Esmark,Inc., as part of its youth development recognition program. Each year Esmark, Inc., conducts a national search for exceptional student athletes who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and achievements in sports, in the classroom, and in their communities.
