Herald Spotlight Athlete: Kate Carnevale

Kate Carnevale, a senior on the Fox Chapel track and field team, ran away from a strong field of competitors April 19 at the Butler Invitational. She was named MVP after taking first in the 100 meters, second in the 200, fourth in the 400 and teaming with Sarena Seeger, Abby Kiefer and Maddy Kiefer to take third in the 1,600.

She has committed to Davidson, where she will continue with her track career. She is unsure of a major but is considering engineering or the veterinary field.

If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?

Iceland.

What sport would you be involved with if not track?

Basketball.

Do you have a pre-meet ritual?

I like to do all my stretching the day before.

What’s your favorite cookout food?

Hamburgers.

What TV show makes you want to change the channel?

I don’t really watch much TV.

What movie could you watch over and over?

“The Hunger Games.”

What do you do in your spare time?

Hiking and hanging out with friends and family.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

Anywhere warm.

Who is your favorite Pittsburgh athlete?

Sidney Crosby.

Who makes the best pizza around?

Casa Del Sol.

What would make up your favorite all-time meal?

General Tso’s shrimp and chicken alfredo.

Ice cream.
