Legendary Woodland Hills football coach George Novak brought his team to James M. Burke Stadium on Friday night in search of his 300th career win.
He was able to light up his cigar early as his Wolverines rolled to a 42-12 halftime lead en route to a 54-12 win over host Fox Chapel.
The loss dropped the Foxes to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the WPIAL Class 5A Allegheny Nine Conference.
After falling behind by 14-0 in the first quarter, FC’s Brayden Thomas scored on a 2-yard run to cut the lead to 14-6. The Wolverines responded with 28 points in the second quarter.
Fox Chapel put eight points on the board in between the Woody High touchdown barrage when Connor Romango hauled in a 49-yard pass from Dimitri Spina. Spina finished with 10 completions for 116 yards.
Next up for the Foxes will be a trip to North Hills on Friday night. Like Fox Chapel, the Indians will be searching for their first conference win. They fell to West Allegheny, 24-16, last week.
