The Fox Chapel Area boys volleyball team hit the film room before facing Seneca Valley in last Friday’s WPIAL Class AAA title match at Baldwin. The Foxes had to share the Section 2 title after a 3-2 loss to the Raiders in the second half of section play. The loss came after a 3-0 sweep of their section foe in the first half.
“We studied a ton of film to figure out what we did wrong in that match,” said Jaysen Zaleski, a 6-foot-3 senior middle hitter. “We put in a lot of work in the video room.”
The extra film work paid huge dividends for Zaleski and his teammates as Fox Chapel dominated Seneca Valley in the rubber match en route to a 3-1 victory and the WPIAL Class AAA title.
“We brought a lot more energy and defensive power than they did,” said Max DePellegrini, a 6-1 senior setter. “We just brought it. It’s so exciting.”
Fox Chapel was making its fourth appearance in a WPIAL title match and claimed its second championship. The Foxes won their first WPIAL title in 2006, then placed second in 2007 and 2010.
