A year ago, Canon-McMillan’s Chris Gladden took the court for the WPIAL Class AAA singles final an underdog and lost in straight sets to Chad Kissell of Latrobe.
When he stepped between the lines Tuesday at Shady Side Academy to square off against Fox Chapel senior Siddharth Rajupet, he was the favorite.
Gladden took control from the start and effectively moved Rajupet around as this Marist recruit breezed to a 6-3, 6-1 victory to become the first Big Macs player to win a WPIAL Class AAA title since the sport split into two classifications in 1999.
