Led by a long jumper and a hurdler, Fox Chapel’s boys track and field team defended its title at the Butler Invitational on Friday night.
Strong showings by Brian Papich and Brandon Mitchell helped the Foxes place first in the team standings for a second straight season. Papich won the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 63⁄4 inches, while Mitchell won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.82. Papich and Mitchell also belonged to the 400-meter relay team that took first (44.11); Tony Nguyen and Carrington Vaughn were the other two in that relay. And Papich and Mitchell also belonged to the first place 1,600 relay team that included Andrew Golio and Elias Graca and crossed the line in 3:28.98.
