The Fox Chapel track and field season recently concluded its season with Kate Carnevale and Caelan Miller running at the PIAA championships.
“Caelan ran the best race of her career,” FC coach Tom Moul said. “She finished 13th overall, just barely missing qualifying for finals. Kate made it to the semifinal round in the 200, so she can say she’s one of the top 16 200-meter sprinters in the state. That’s quite an accomplishment for a sophomore and first time track athlete.”
Carnevale broke school records in the 100 and 200. She and Miller were the team’s co-MVPs.
“We also had Sarena Seeger and Annika Urban finish in the top eight at WPIALs so it was a very good season,” Moul said. “We’ll miss our seniors. They provided much leadership and competitive spirit this season. It really was a pleasure coaching them for their high school track careers.”
Most of this year’s performers will be back.
“We really did have a young team, especially on the girls side,” Moul said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do next season, with another year of getting stronger and faster. We seem to have a core of very dedicated athletes who really want to improve and be major competitors in the WPIAL and, in some cases, the state.”
