A tenth of a second, a blip of time that usually determines sprints, made the difference in this spring’s third 3,200-meter clash between Kiski Area junior Brent Kennedy and Fox Chapel junior Ethan Martin. Each owned a previous win over the other. Martin beat Kennedy by less than a full second at the Butler Invitational in early April. Kennedy edged Martin by about the same margin at the Baldwin Invitational earlier this month. Able to get by Kennedy in the final stretch, Martin won the WPIAL Class AAA 3,200 title Thursday at Baldwin with a time of 9:17.20. Kennedy crossed the finish line in 9:17.30.
