In her first two years on the Fox Chapel tennis team, junior Amanda Nord was a regular in the WPIAL and PIAA winner’s circles.
In 2014, as a freshman, she teamed up with Laurel Shymansky to win the WPIAL Class AAA doubles championship and finished second at the PIAA championship. The following year, the pair won both the WPIAL and PIAA titles.
The road to the gold medals will toughen considerably for Nord next fall. Shymansky graduated this month and will move on to Duquesne University.
“There will definitely be more pressure now that Laurel is gone,” Nord said. “But we have most of the team coming back, so that will ease the pressure.”
