Fox Chapel senior running back Tommy Smith (5-foot-10, 183 pounds) ended his high school football career in style last week as he rushed for 298 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-28 nonconference win over Hempfield in the season finale.
“That was the most confidence I’ve ever had in a game,” he said. “The offensive line played great in front of me. When they told me after the game that I had 298 yards, I couldn’t believe it.”
He also plays basketball and rugby for Fox Chapel but will concentrate on football in college. He wants to major in law enforcement. John Carroll and Thiel have shown interest, and he is also considering IUP and Miami (Ohio). For his efforts, he is The Herald Spotlight Athlete.
