The bumpy road continues for the Fox Chapel football team.
The Foxes fell to Upper St. Clair, 35-0, last Friday to drop to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Allegheny 9 Conference. USC held a 21-0 halftime lead. FC’s Nick Gizzo had his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game and finished with 102 yards on 23 carries.
“We’re our own worst enemy at times,” FC coach Tom Loughran said. “We were in the game early and then we turned it over on downs at their 10-yard line, and they drove 90 yards and then they added two defensive scores in the third quarter. We’re getting a great effort, but we’re not getting any results.”
Loughran said his team will keep working to get that first victory.
“Nick has given us a nice spark the last two games. The guys are still upbeat. They believe in what we’re doing. We just have to get over the hump,” he said.
“One thing I’ve told them is that we’ve lost to five very good football teams to open the season. We’re competing but we want to be able to win, not just be competitive.”
The Foxes will host Moon (1-3, 1-2) on Friday. The Tigers fell to North Hills, 29-12, last week. Quarterback Cole Konieczka passed for 129 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
