Fox Chapel boys soccer is headed back to the second round of the state playoffs for the first time since 2008.
The Foxes played 110 minutes with Central York on Tuesday night in a PIAA Class AAA first-round game at Chambersburg High School before winning in a shootout, 3-2 (4-3 PKs) to advance.
Yardin Solomon, the Foxes’ fifth man up in the shootout, scored the deciding goal after teammate Nathan Wecht tied it, 3-3.
Jacob Dunn stopped back-to-back shots by Central York in the shootout.
Central York (22-4), the District 3 runner-up, took a 2-1 lead into halftime before Jung Hong of Fox Chapel (18-2-1) tied it with 51 seconds left in regulation on a penalty kick.
