The Fox Chapel boys and girls cross country teams are hoping for a strong season after the boys claimed a section championship last year with a 7-0 record and the girls finished in third place at 5-2.
At the WPIAL team championships, the girls came in eighth while the boys finished in 11th place.
“On the boys side, we lost our top runner but most others are returning,” coach Tom Moul said. “For the girls, our top two runners, Sarena Seeger and Annika Urban, will be back.”
Seeger finished 17th at WPIALs and 27th at the PIAA meet last year while Urban was 12th at WPIALs and 54th at the PIAAs. The top returnees for the boys are Alec Eckman and Adam Cook, both seniors.
Track star Caelan Miller, who played soccer the past two seasons, will be running cross country for the first time.
“She’s a two-time state qualifier in track, so we’re excited to have her on the team,” Moul said.
Moul will have some promising newcomers on the team, as well. “
