He outdueled longtime training partner Siddharth Rajupet for the top spot on the Fox Chapel team, but lost to him for the only time this season in the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals. Shymansky won a consolation match to earn a trip to the state finals in Hershey. He will likely get a rematch with Ben Vinarsky of Pine-Richland, the player he defeated in the third-place match, in the second round.
