Parents and community members cheered the idea of kids helping kids through a charity hockey game on Sunday.
“I really give them credit,” said Lilli Donaldson, 49, of West Deer, who watched her nephew, Fox Chapel High senior Ethan Schollaert, in a game that raised more than $1,000 for survivors of the Sandy Hook school massacre in Newtown, Conn. “So many kids these days are so self-centered and about ‘me, me, me.‘ ”
Proceeds from the match between the Fox Chapel Hockey Club and the Pittsburgh Police Icemen will go to the United Way of Western Connecticut Sandy Hook Fund.
