The Fox Chapel girls came away with a 98-85 win over one of the premier Class 2A girls swim programs in the state, Shady Side Academy. The Foxes overcame Shady Side Academy’s relay strength to defeat their neighbors. Freshman Jaclyn Filo took first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.47 and she took first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.75). Her older sister Joslyn Filo won the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.52. Senior Maia Pauley won the 500 freestyle by over seven seconds with a time of 5:32.45.
Fox Chapel was also able to take advantage of Shady Side’s lack of divers. Three Foxes were able to total 13 points for the Foxes. Dixon Veltri won with 191.25 points and Katie Eames (151.45) and Elizabeth Mountz (149.40) also scored points.
The Foxes were able to secure one relay win and they did it at just the right time to clinch the meet. Pauley, Joslyn Filo, senior Megan Wiese and sophomore Maria Luciana won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:49.98.
