The Fox Chapel football team’s quest for its first victory was turned back by the North Hills Indians on Friday night.
The Indians held a 14-0 halftime lead and increased it to 21-0 in the third quarter before FC’s Nick Gizzo scored on a 50-yard run. Jerett Zaleski’s PAT made it 21-7.
Gizzo scored again early in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run, and the Foxes were within 21-13. North Hills answered with a touchdown quickly, but the Foxes responded with a pass of 14 yards from Gizzo to Cole Waxter to make it 28-20. The Indians answered with another touchdown to ice the game and drop the Foxes’ record to 0-3. Gizzo finished with 129 yards rushing on 19 carries.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Foxes as they will travel to top-ranked Upper St. Clair on Friday night. USC manhandled Baldwin, 43-3, on Friday. The Panthers were led by Thomas Vissman, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries.
“We’ve played some very good teams to start the season. Upper St. Clair will be more of the same,” FC coach Tom Loughran said. “Jim Render always has his teams ready to play. We will need to play mistake-free football.”
