Dan McCoy, a 2012 Fox Chapel graduate and student at Pitt, recently was named to the 2014 U.S. sled hockey team. The 19-year-old forward went to the junior camp from July 16-21 and followed that up with the men’s national tryouts July 25-26. He had eight goals and two assists in three games at the junior camp and followed up with a pair of goals and assists at the national tryouts.
“It was pretty tough, but I made it,” he said. McCoy credited his conditioning as the main reason for his strong showing. “Conditioning made all of the difference in how I played. My stamina was great even after three to four hours of hockey for a week straight.”
