Fox Chapel puts a contending boys golf team on the course just about every season. It’s more of a surprise when they don’t.
But the program goes long stretches between WPIAL championships. That wasn’t the case at first when the Foxes won titles in 1974 and ’76, but they didn’t raise the trophy again until 1984.
The next title came more than two decades later in 2006.
With another talented group this season, the gap between championships could be closing. The trend would dictate it’s getting to be about that time.
“I love this team,” Foxes coach Bryan Deal said. “We have a nice blend of experience and youth. All of our kids are talented.”
