Last season, Fox Chapel’s Laurel Shymansky paired with Lacey Cohen to win the WPIAL Class AAA championship and take second at states.
Shymansky has a new partner this season – freshman Amanda Nord – and they look to a very formidable team.
The Foxes’ duo blew through the competition at the Class AAA Section 3 doubles tournament this week, not losing a point in their first three matches and then taking down Shady Side Academy’s Lindsey Miller and Devin Gramley, 6-4, 6-1, in the title match Wednesday.
Shymansky, a junior, also did well in the individual singles tournaments this season, taking second in the section and fourth at WPIALs.
