Last year, the Fox Chapel boys basketball team plodded through the first half of the season.
The team’s record hovered around the .500 mark. Things changed dramatically, however, after that as the Foxes became the team nobody wanted to face in the playoffs.
The Foxes went on to make the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals and lost in the first round of the PIAA playoffs to finish at 16-10.
Now, coach Zach Skrinjar must replace some key components of that team as leading scorer Billy Urso, David Brown and Jack Lundy all graduated.
Skrinjar is optimistic about the upcoming season.
“With the returning players we have, we will continue to have depth at different positions,” the coach said. “We will again feature a strong team defense, and we’re athletic. We also gained a lot of valuable experience in the playoffs last year.”
