Kate Hardiman, a four-year varsity player for the Lady Foxes’ field hockey and lacrosse teams, has been awarded a WPIAL college scholarship based on her academic, athletic, leadership, and community service accomplishments.
She is one of only eight females and eight males in the WPIAL District VII program to receive the $500 award.
A senior forward, captain, and the field hockey team’s leading scorer last season, Kate helped lead the Lady Foxes to a 9-1 section record and the section championship title. The team advanced to the WPIAL playoffs for the third time in the four years Kate played for the squad, and earned the WPIAL Class AAAA title this past season. An all-section and All-WPIAL player, Kate’s leadership also contributed greatly to the team’s history-making first appearance at the 2012 PIAA qualifiers.
The future University of Notre Dame student earned four varsity letters playing for the Fox Chapel High School girls’ lacrosse team, as well, and was last season’s leading scorer.
Kate’s academic achievements are equally as impressive. She was named a 2013 National Merit Finalist, holds a 4.36 grade point average, is a member of the National Honor Society, serves as the school’s newspaper editor, and is co-president of both the French and book clubs.
Congratulations, Kate, on a well-deserved honor!
