The Lady Foxes’ girls’ tennis team finished the regular season 9-0 and was section champs for the fourth straight year. Their overall record was 16-2.
The ladies team advanced to the WPIAL team tennis quarterfinals, but suffered an incredibly close 3-2 upset loss to Pine-Richland. The match hinged on the second doubles team of Molly Dean and Amanda Schilcher, who were literally one point away from winning the entire match, but Pine-Richland came through with a third set tiebreak victory.
The team ended the regular season with some great individual performances. Singles sophomore Charlotte James finished the season with a perfect 16-0 record; junior Kristen Friday was 16-1; and senior Amanda Nord ended her high school team career with 15 wins and two losses.
In doubles, senior Molly Wiese finished 11-5; freshman Emily Fera was 13-5; freshman Molly Dean closed with an 11-7 record; and sophomore Amanda Schilcher finished 9-9.
During the weeks of October 9 and October 16, the ladies will compete in the individual singles and doubles tournaments with hopes of qualifying for the PIAA individual championships.
