Members of the Fox Chapel Crew Club recently won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2014 Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association Regatta. Juniors Victoria Covelli, Alexandra Drzewinski, and Natalie Walsh and sophomore Katelyn Essey won gold medals in the Women’s Junior Quad event. Juniors Gabrielle Kyle, Cleary Johnston, and Madeline Volosky and sophomore Emily Kiehn, with coxswain junior Elizabeth Constantino won a silver medal in the Women’s Junior Four. Seniors Grant Gaydosh, Axel Hamel, and Robert Heister and sophomore Noah Kasian took the bronze medal in the Men’s Varsity Quad. Grant Gaydosh also won a bronze medal in the Men’s Varsity Single event.
The gold and silver medal winners will now go on to compete at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships that will be held May 23 and 24 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
The Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships were held May 10 and 11 in Zanesville, Ohio. The Fox Chapel Crew Club competed against students from 48 high school teams from eight states.
