The girls’ cross country and boys’ swimming/diving teams are the winners of the athletic department’s annual Team QPA Awards. Recipients are determined by the cumulative grade point average of the varsity team members.
Girls’ cross country had an overall QPA of 4.15. In addition to their achievements in the classroom, the team is ranked third in the northeast region by Nike, won the state championship for the first time in school history, and won the WPIAL Class AAA Section 4 team championship with a perfect record.
Boys’ swimming/diving also proved that academic and athletic excellence often go hand-in-hand. The varsity teams’ QPA was 3.95. A record number of boys qualified for the WPIAL and PIAA championships, including Jonah Cagley, who won the WPIAL championship for the second consecutive time, and placed second at the PIAA championships.
Congratulations to both teams for their hard work!
