Fox Chapel Area High School’s cross country teams got the month off to an unprecedented start at the Gateway Invitational held Saturday, September 2.
The girls’ varsity team took top team honors for the second consecutive year and swept the top finishes. Senior Caelan Miller won first place and was followed by juniors Annika Urban and Sarena Seeger in second and third places, respectively. Sophomore Grace Sisson finished in fourth place and Brooke Krally, also a sophomore, was sixth.
For the boys, sophomore Christian Fitch was the second-place finisher, senior John Folkerts was fourth, and junior Ian Brown placed ninth.
The junior varsity girls’ team also won their segment of the invitational, with Anna Folkerts, a junior, and Izzy Doerr, a sophomore, finishing first and second.
