Michael Snowball, a senior on the Fox Chapel boys soccer team, spent the first part of the summer recovering from a knee injury and taking a few vacations. Since then, he’s been hard at work getting ready for the fall season.
“The knee feels good, and I’ve been playing a lot of soccer without any problems,” he said. “We have pickup games on Mondays and Wednesdays at the school, and I feel like I’m at 100 percent.”
The 5-foot-9, 150-pound forward, who scored 21 goals last year, is still undecided about where he will attend college, but he wants to major in sports chemistry. He also played on the FC basketball team last year.
“Soccer will be my preferred sport in college,” he said. “But I would consider the opportunity to play both sports.”
Snowball knows the Foxes will have a lot of work to do to repeat last year’s success, when they were 18-3-1 overall and 11-1 in Section 3-AAA, finishing as WPIAL runners-up and PIAA quarterfinalists.
“We lost a lot of talented seniors, but we have many good players returning,” Snowball said. “Right now, we are working on team chemistry and getting used to new teammates.
“We feel that we will be a strong team again this season. I think our attack will be a strength, along with our experience. We are working hard getting ready for the season to start.”
