Fox Chapel dug an early hole against Seneca Valley in the WPIAL girls soccer consolation game, and the Foxes’ late push couldn’t save them.
Lauren Sileo scored in the fifth minute of the game, and No. 4 Seneca Valley’s defense made the goal stand in a 1-0 victory over No. 7 Fox Chapel in the WPIAL Class AAA consolation game Wednesday at Mars Athletic Complex.
“In the playoffs at this level and against a team like Seneca Valley, any time you get down in the game it does take some of the air out of your game a bit,” Fox Chapel coach Peter Torres said. “A sign of a good team is how you’re going to respond afterward. The girls did what we asked them to do, and you can’t ask for anything more.”
Seneca Valley (17-4), the two-time defending WPIAL champion, posted its 11th shutout of the season and second against Fox Chapel. The Raiders blanked the Foxes, 3-0, in a nonsection game Oct. 15.
