The Fox Chapel girls volleyball team will be hoping for a return to the WPIAL playoffs this fall after a two-year absence.
Coach Sara D’Angelo will have most of the team returning and is confident heading into the season.
“Last year we did not make the playoffs and for the past two years we have been rebuilding in terms of experience and consistency,” she said. “We are only losing one senior from last year, and though Alaina Hanley was a great contributor for us, we have many defensive players to fill her role this year.”
The Foxes will return eight players with starting experience from last year.
“Most of them have been starting varsity since their sophomore year,” D’Angelo said. “Senior Ana Spangenberg, who is a returning setter/right-side hitter, also got considerable playing time in her freshman year when we made it to the WPIAL championships and has been a starter and major contributor since. She has signed with D-I Lehigh to play volleyball in college.”
