Harran Zureikat didn’t have to wait for a list to come out to see if he would be part of the Under Armour Next Football All-America game.

Zureikat, a Fox Chapel senior, earned his spot during a Kohl’s Scholarship Camp in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Competing with several other top prospects, Zureikat outlasted tough competition to earn his place.

“I earned it through the Kohl’s camp,” Zureikat said. “It wasn’t based on anything else I’ve done. It was through hard work. I know how prestigious this game is.”

There were more than 1,000 specialists in attendance at the camp, according to the Kohl’s account on Instagram. Zureikat has loaded his resume with strong bullet points this summer.

Last month, Zureikat announced his plan to attend Georgia in college. He plans to be a place kicker for the Bulldogs, but would also like to work on punting to make himself more well-rounded.

“I’m blessed to say it was a busy process,” Zureikat said. “Committing to school took a big load off my shoulders. It’s allowed me to prioritize the upcoming season.”

Zureikat played his first two seasons at Shady Side Academy. During his first season with the Foxes last year, Zureikat made five of his seven field-goal attempts.

Zuriekat set a school record by making a 45-yard attempt against Plum.

Foxes coach Dave Leasure admires his desire to help the team. When Zureikat missed a 55-yard attempt against East Allegheny, he immediately went over to talk to his coaches.

“He came off the field and apologized,” Leasure said in March. “He believes he should make every kick.”

The environment at the Kohls’ camp was a good fit for Zureikat. There were three charting sessions where he got to compete against other players battling for a spot at the Under Armour game.

“Kicking is my favorite thing to do in the world,” Zureikat said. “I don’t get nervous over it. It was exciting to do what I do in front of a big group of people.”

Zureikat said his primary goal is working to maintain his consistency.

“I plan to keep working to be the best I can,” Zureikat said. “My biggest thing is consistency. That’s where I rise above the other kickers. I plan to hit the field as much as I can. I have to maintain good grades. I want to be the most well-rounded person I can be.”
