Fox Chapel had been pushed around a bit by teams late in the season, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when North Hills scored a quick goal 2:20 into the game Monday to take an early lead on the Foxes.
That was the only time the Indians found the back of the net.
Fox Chapel (20-0-1) showed why it had the best record in the PIHL this season as it scored five unanswered goals — including a pair from Tommy Healy — while goaltender Nash Wedner made 24 saves as the top-seeded Foxes opened the PIHL Class 1A playoffs with a 5-1 win over No. 8 North Hills (12-9-0) at Alpha Ice.
