The recent decision by the PIAA Board of Directors to cancel all remaining winter and spring sports and championships was a difficult one for everybody, especially our senior athletes who were looking forward to their final year of high school athletics.
While very disappointing, the health and safety of Fox Chapel Area’s student-athletes, coaches, and fans are of utmost importance, and we are doing everything we can to make certain we can pick up where we left off when the time is right.
As we navigate this unique situation together, I’d like to thank our athletes, coaches, and boosters clubs for their dedication and tireless efforts in support of our many teams at the high school and middle school. The activities conducted throughout the year, including our athletes’ dedication to offseason strength and conditioning, and participation in fall and winter leagues; boosters’ meetings; fundraisers; and many hours of detailed planning make Fox Chapel Area athletics a source of pride and accomplishment not only for our district, but the entire community.
Life often presents us with uncertainties, and things aren’t always fair, but I am confident we all will learn and grow from this experience. Perhaps more than ever, we should remember the many important lifelong lessons that athletics teaches us to get through these times, such as cooperation, patience, sacrifice, responsibility, respect, and perseverance.
To all of our underclassmen, keep working hard, both in the classroom and on the field. The next season will be here before you know it. Seniors, good luck in all of your future endeavors. I hope that you are able to experience all the joys that life has to offer and are able to live life to the fullest. You will forever be a member of our athletics family.
Go Foxes!
