Herald Spotlight Athlete: Mary Ellis

Mary Ellis, a junior on the Fox Chapel lacrosse team, has helped the squad to a strong start. In a 17-11 win over North Allegheny on April 1, she scored a goal and had nine assists. She followed that with two goals and four assists in an 11-10 overtime win over Pine-Richland on April 3. Mary is also on the FC field hockey team. She recently committed to play lacrosse at Maryland-Baltimore County, where she plans on majoring in business or finance.

If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?

I’ve always wanted to go to Africa.

What sport would you be involved with if not lacrosse or field hockey?

Probably basketball.

What is your favorite sport to watch on TV?

Hockey.

What TV show makes you want to change the channel?

“Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”

What movie could you watch over and over?

“The Blind Side.”

What three words would describe you?

Outgoing, hard-working and positive.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

Long Beach Island.

Who is your favorite Pittsburgh athlete?

I have two: Juju Smith-Schuster and Phil Kessel.

Who makes the best pizza around?

Vocelli’s.

What would make up your favorite all-time meal?

A filet along with my grandma’s eggs over easy and bacon.

What is your favorite TV show?

“Friends.”

What junk food do you have a weakness for?

McDonald’s fries and Wendy’s fries.
