Boys’ Tennis on a Roll

Dave Prevost must feel like he hit the lottery.

Prevost, the long-time Fox Chapel boys tennis coach, resigned a few years ago and turned over the reigns to Alex Slezak. But when Slezak was sidelined this season after having back surgery, Prevost came back on an emergency basis to lead the team on the court this season.

And what a team it is.

Fox Chapel is the defending WPIAL Class 3A champion and has looked good so far through the middle part of the season. The Foxes are loaded up top with sophomore Robby Shymansky, the preseason favorite to win the singles title, as well as Milo Baron, the No. 18 freshman in the state, who is playing at No. 2 singles.

This is a team with experience and already has several key wins this season against Shady Side Academy and Upper St. Clair. Fox Chapel will likely be the favorite when the WPIAL team playoffs begin on April 19.
