Fox Chapel senior Cleary Johnston has been on the crew team since her freshman year, picking up the sport to spend time with friends.
“I had been playing softball and wanted to look for an additional sport,” she said. “Some friends told me to try crew, and I’ve been rowing ever since.”
She did well enough to receive some interest from Mercyhurst. Last week, she signed a national letter of intent to compete there.
“I fell in love with the campus, their business program and the rowing team,” she said. “My plan is to contribute to the team next year.”
