Senior guard Matt D’Amico scored 31 points, and Fox Chapel never trailed on its way to a 57-39 home win over Section 2-AAAA rival Franklin Regional on Tuesday.
After registering his fourth 30-point game of the season, D’Amico needs four points to become Fox Chapel’s all-time leading scorer. Class AAAA’s leading scorer entered the game with 1,278 career points, trailing the Fox Chapel record by 34.
“Before the game, my coach told me I had a good chance of getting it, so it was in my head, but by the end of the game I was just playing,” D’Amico said. “We needed this win to have a good chance at the playoffs.”
