Though the season is over for the Fox Chapel Area High School girls volleyball team, post-season rewards continue to roll in. Two players who were instrumental in the Foxes‘ run to the WPIAL Class AAA championship match have been chosen to the PIAA Class AAA allstate team. Sarah Bradley, a 5-foot-11 middle hitter, and Riley Herrmann, a 6-foot opposite hitter, were chosen to the elite squad.

“I was actually pleasantly surprised and also very honored to be selected,” Bradley said. “To be recognized for my volleyball achievements this year is very rewarding and I am thankful what has happened in my final volleyball season in high school. We had a year to remember.” Herrmann was a little more surprised about her selection. “I‘m really happy that I had the opportunity, this season, to make a comeback from my injuries and make allstates,”she said. “I‘m slightly shocked it happened, mainly because I wasn‘t sure I would even play this year.” It ended up being a terrific experience, she said. “Obviously, without my incredible teammates and coach, it would not have happened,” Herrmann said. “I‘m really proud of what we accomplished this year, and they helped me to get the recognition as an all-state player.”

For Fox Chapel coach Sara D‘Angelo, having players selected to the all-state squad is a new experience. “I have never coached an all-state player. Then again, I have never coached in states either until this year,” D‘Angelo said. “I figured they would have a good chance of being selected, and was not surprised. “They are two of the many talented players we had on our team this year, and have earned every award they have been given. As a coach, I could not be more proud of my team and Riley and Sarah.”
