Quality pitching carried Fox Chapel to postseason

The Fox Chapel baseball team finished with a 14-6 record after falling to Peters Township in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs.

Hitting leaders for the Foxes were Michael Marsico, who had a .439 average, was second on the team with 18 hits and led the team with seven extra-base hits.

Patrick Monteverde had a .352 average, led the team with 19 hits and tied for the team lead in runs scored (13) with Josh Kieffer. Jacob Pilarski led the team with 12 RBIs.

The pitching staff was the strength of the team.

“We relied on quality pitching from our staff all year,” FC coach Michael Frank said.
