Tony Novosel coached the Fox Chapel girls soccer team from 1986 to 1994.
During his tenure, the team won four section titles, made the WPIAL playoffs eight times and also made it to the PIAA semifinals once.
His overall record was 139-41-9.
“There are so many wonderful memories,” he said. “It was a great run with a great group of people. I was extremely lucky to be at Fox Chapel in this period. The players were wonderful, bright, hard working and committed to achieving excellence on and off the field. The parents and administration always treated me so well. I loved coaching Fox Chapel.”
As for individual memories, Novosel said he remembers the fear of replacing Frank Christy immediately after Fox Chapel won the WPIAL title.
