Girl’s Tennis Team Wins Academic Honors

The Girls’ Tennis Team is the 2015-2016 winner of the Fox Chapel Area High School Team QPA Academic Award, based upon the varsity players’ cumulative grade point average of 4.29.

The team is not only academically talented, but brilliant on the court as well. This past fall, the Lady Foxes advanced to the WPIAL team qualifier after a 6-1 section record. Senior Laurel Shymansky and sophomore Amanda Nord won the PIAA Class AAA doubles championship and back-to back WPIAL titles, making them the first WPIAL girls’ doubles team since 2008 to win repeat consecutive titles. Laurel earned three WPIAL titles during her high school career and is the first girls player to earn that many championships in more than 20 years.

Members of the varsity team include seniors Sophie Rodosky, Grace Sauereisen, Hannah Schaffer, Anja Schempf, and Laurel Shymansky; juniors Sophia Lee, Moira McCormick, Tanvi Meringenti, and Anna Shin; sophomores Margeaux Essey, Morgann Green, Amanda Nord, and Molly Weise; and freshmen Leah Fetting and Kristen Friday.

Congratulations ladies on a job well done!
